A treasure trove of historical footage which was stored in General Dwight D. Eisenhower's former World War II headquarters has been resurrected by AP Archive as part of a major restoration project, providing new perspectives on past events from the 1960s and 1970s.
- The collection consists of twenty-thousand cans of film, representing approximately 3,500 hours of coverage.
- A mix of international news and entertainment footage from 1963 - 1985, with 700 new stories catalogued a week.
- 20,000 stories catalogued so far, available from the AP Archive website.
- Footage of key political figures and celebrities including Richard Nixon, Idi Amin, Colonel Gadaffi, Charles de Gaulle, Edward Heath, Elizabeth Taylor, John Lennon and Jane Fonda, much of it unseen since it was aired up to 40 years ago.
